Quarter 1: Litigation Fundamentals & Courtroom Orientation (Months 1–3)

Objectives:

  • Understand civil litigation workflow
  • Gain familiarity with court procedures, filings, and etiquette
  • Learn document handling and legal research techniques

Activities:

  • Assist with filing, diary management, organizing case files
  • Observe court proceedings and client meetings
  • Conduct statutory and case law research
  • Shadow juniors during briefings

Deliverables:

  • 3 legal research notes
  • Hearing briefs and cause lists
  • Weekly reflection logs

Quarter 2: Drafting & Procedural Mastery (Months 4–6)

Objectives:

  • Learn to draft pleadings, written statements, and affidavits
  • Understand limitation periods and court fees
  • Familiarize with formats and standards

Activities:

  • Draft plaints, replies, affidavits, notices
  • Review files for defects
  • Create first drafts from briefs
  • Assist in preparing exhibits and annexures

Deliverables:

  • 5 vetted drafts
  • Peer-reviewed draft from another intern
  • Participate in simulated filing drill

Quarter 3: Strategic Research, Oral Advocacy & Client Handling (Months 7–9)

Objectives:

  • Conduct strategic legal research
  • Develop oral advocacy through moots
  • Learn client interaction skills

Activities:

  • Draft written arguments and legal memos
  • Attend and summarize client meetings
  • Participate in bi-weekly moot arguments
  • Observe and debrief Court hearings

Deliverables:

  • 3 memos on live issues
  • 2 moot court evaluations
  • 1 internal presentation

Quarter 4: Advanced Litigation-Cross Examination & Trial Skills (Months 10–12)

Objectives:

  • Understand trial strategy and evidence rules
  • Build cross-examination and final argument skills
  • Demonstrate readiness for associate-level tasks

Activities:

  • Draft charge frames, witness questions, affidavits
  • Attend and debrief real cross-examinations
  • Conduct mock trials and final arguments

Deliverables:

  • Trial strategy memo
  • Lead mock cross-examination
  • Final reflective report and partner interview
